When must my final pay be paid in Saudi Arabia?

Within one week of the contract ending if your employer ended it or it ran out. Within two weeks if you ended it (Art. 88).

The deadline covers all your entitlements: your end of service award, unpaid wages and your other dues.

What to do now

  1. Mark the date: your last day plus 7 days, or plus 14 if you resigned. The leaving plan does this for you.
  2. Ask for a written breakdown before you sign a final clearance.
  3. If the date passes, file for friendly settlement on Wedi.

Which deadline applies

  • Your employer ended the contract: one week.
  • Your fixed-term contract ran out: one week.
  • You resigned: two weeks.

The clock starts when the contract ends. After a resignation, that is when it takes effect, not the day you hand it in.

A resignation takes effect when your employer accepts it, or after 30 days with no answer. Your employer can put acceptance off for up to 60 days, with a written reason (Art. 79 bis).

What is in your final pay

  • Your end of service award: half a month's wage a year for 5 years, then a month a year (Art. 84).
  • Your wages up to your last day.
  • Pay for unused annual leave. Ask HR which wage they use for it.
  • Notice pay, if the other side skipped the notice period (Art. 76).

If it is late

File for friendly settlement through HRSD's Wedi service. It is free, and you file with the office for the city where you last worked.

If it does not settle, the case goes to the labour court within 21 working days. Workers pay no court costs for these claims.

You have 12 months from the end of the job. After that, the court hears the claim only if it accepts your reason or your employer admits the debt (Art. 234).
