What each line does

[Date of this letter]
Your notice runs from this date, so keep a copy that shows it.
To: [Employer's name]
Address it to the company that employs you, as named on your contract.
Subject: Resignation of [Your full name]
A plain subject line makes the letter easy to find later.
Dear Sir or Madam,
A neutral greeting works when you do not know who will log it.
I am resigning from my role at [Employer's name].
One clear sentence. A resignation that hedges invites argument about whether you resigned at all.
As Article 38 of the Oman Labour Law (Royal Decree 53/2023) sets for a monthly-paid worker, I am giving you 30 days' notice in writing.
Monthly-paid: 30 days' written notice, or longer if your contract says so (Art. 38). If yours is longer, enter it above.
Before my last day I will hand my work over and give back anything that belongs to the company.
It shows you mean to leave cleanly, which helps when you ask for your final pay.
Please pay everything owed to me on leaving, including any gratuity due, when my employment ends, as Article 91 requires.
Your employer must pay as soon as the job ends (Art. 91).
Please confirm in writing that you received this letter.
Proof of the date you gave notice is your best protection if dates are disputed later.
Yours faithfully, [Your full name]
Sign the printed copy as well, and keep one for yourself.

With a start date, the letter adds the day you joined. With a last working day, it names it, and asks for written agreement if it comes before the notice ends.

The notice rule behind it

Article 38 of the Labour Law (Royal Decree 53/2023) lets either side end an open-ended contract for a legitimate reason, with written notice.

The notice is 30 days for a monthly wage and 15 days for other pay, unless the contract agrees longer. Skipping it costs the notice wage, on the final gross wage.

On probation, Article 37 asks for at least 7 days.

Once the letter is in

  • Hand it over and keep a dated copy, or use the Ministry of Labour's online resignation service.
  • Your employer must pay everything as soon as the job ends (Art. 91).
  • You have 1 year from the day each right fell due to claim it (Art. 9).
