What is the deadline for a dismissal complaint in Oman?
30 days from the day you were told of the dismissal (Art. 10). You complain to the Ministry of Labour, which tries to settle before any court case.
Checked 22 October 2026
The 30 days count from the day you were told, not from your last working day. If the two dates differ, count from the earlier one to be safe.

What to ask HR
- Can I have the dismissal decision in writing, with its date and reason?
- When will my gratuity and notice pay be paid?
How to file
- File online with the Ministry of Labour, as an individual complaint.
- You sign in with a civil ID, or a passport plus your visa details.
- The Ministry has 30 days to settle. A settlement it records can be enforced.
- If it does not settle, it refers the case to court within 7 days of the last session (Art. 9).
A court will not accept a case filed with it directly. The Ministry has to come first.
Wage complaints get a hearing booked automatically, and both sides are told by text and email.
Court fees are waived for worker claims (Art. 13).
What you can win
If the dismissal is found to be arbitrary, compensation is 3 to 12 months' gross wage (Art. 11). You also keep your gratuity and your notice pay.
Your other dues
Your gratuity is at least a month's basic pay for each year of service since 31 July 2023 (Art. 61). Ask the Ministry of Labour at what rate years before 31 July 2023 are paid. Only a dismissal on a ground in Article 40 removes it.
Your employer must pay your gratuity and wages as soon as the job ends (Art. 91).
Claims for gratuity and wages lapse 1 year after each right was due (Art. 9). That limit is separate from, and longer than, the 30 days.
Keep your papers
Keep the dismissal letter, your contract and your payslips. Write down the date you were told and who told you.
Pushed to resign?
If you were pushed to resign, say so in your complaint. In some cases you can leave without notice and keep your gratuity (Art. 41).
One case is wages left unpaid for more than 2 months in a row.
Your notice
If your employer gave you notice, you get 10 paid hours a week to look for work during it (Art. 39).
Keep any reference number you get.
