How much does it cost to renew an Emirates ID and residence visa in the UAE?

Outside Dubai, ICP charges for an Emirates ID renewal: AED 100 for each year of residence, plus an AED 100 smart application fee. The residence renewal is a separate line, listed below.

These are the government charges. u.ae carries no fee table: the charges are stated on each service card on the ICP and GDRFA websites.

The ICP and GDRFA cards do not add the lines into one total, so this page gives none.

A late Emirates ID renewal adds a daily fine, listed below. Pay the fee on the portal as soon as the application is approved.

What to do now

  1. Open the ICP service card for your service, and pick the category that matches you.
  2. Add up the lines for your case. Work out the cost for the number of years you will renew for.
  3. In Dubai, ask GDRFA for the fee for an employer-sponsored renewal.
  4. Pay on the portal. Keep the payment receipt with your application number.

Emirates ID, outside Dubai (ICP)

  • Renewal: AED 100 for each year of residence, plus an AED 100 smart application fee.
  • Late-renewal fine: AED 20 a day, up to AED 1,000.
  • u.ae says it starts one month after expiry. The ICP card says only that it starts after the permitted period for renewing, without a length.

Residence renewal, outside Dubai (ICP)

ICP card for renewing a residence: AED 100 application fee, AED 100 for each year of renewal and AED 100 smart service fee. The cost depends on how many years you renew for.

Residence renewal in Dubai (GDRFA)

  • Family member's residence: AED 200 renewal fee, AED 10 Knowledge Dirham, AED 10 Innovation Dirham, AED 500 if you apply inside the country and AED 20 delivery.
  • Longer residence: the issuance fee increases by AED 100 for each year whenever the residency is more than two years.

That is the GDRFA card for family residence. It does not cover an employer-sponsored renewal. Ask GDRFA for that fee.
